We help small-scale farmers, fisheries, and food vendors reduce postharvest food losses through innovative solar-powered food drying technologies designed for African communities.
Our vision is to end unnecessary postharvest food losses and empower up to 1 million small-scale farmers and fishing communities in East Africa with reliable and affordable clean energy postharvest technologies.
Based in Morogoro town, Tanzania, at MAVUNO-PLUS Ltd, we design, fabricate and deploy solar-powered food drying facilities that prevent postharvest food losses and spoilage focusing on Fish (Dagaa), Seaweed, Fruits and Vegetables across Tanzania.
Our food drying facilities are 100% powered by solar which ensure perishable food products are processed in a clean and safe environment even among communities in off-grid locations.
This environmental benefit empowers farmers economically, prevents food spoilage and increase supply of safe dried fish, seaweed, fruits and vegetables to consumers and markets in and outside Tanzania.
Through flexible financing arrangements, we ensure our solar-powered food drying facilities are affordable, accessible and reliable tools for off-grid small-scale farmers, fisheries and food vendors who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts and postharvest food losses enabling them to earn better incomes and sustain their livelihoods.
Our solar-powered food driers are multipurpose drying facilities locally designed to meet our clients’ needs for affordable, efficient and enhanced productivity solution. Whether its fresh fish, fruits, vegetables or seaweed, all can be dried in the same facility for less time and at lower cost than the usual time it takes to dry these foods.
A medium size solar-powered food drying facility suitable for individual farmers or smaller-groups of fish processors, farmers, and food vendors.

No grid, no diesel. Our facilities work entirely off solar energy perfect for remote farming and fishing communities.
Dramatically reduces postharvest losses across fish, seaweed, fruits and vegetables compared to traditional sun drying.
From 3 days with sun drying, down to under 8 hours with our technology
Designed for small-scale farmers, fishing communities and food vendors in off-grid locations.
Through our flexible payment arrangements, everyone has access to our technologies and will be part of our bigger mission to end food loss and waste in Tanzania.
“It used to take us three days to dry our Dagaa (Fish) with the sun (sun drying), but all that has changed, the moment we acquired MAVUNO-PLUS Solar Driers, now it takes less than 7 hours, and the Dagaa are clean and very appealing to customers”.
“For us, a major change has been the improvement on the quality of dried seaweed and the time it takes for drying seaweed, from four days when we sun dry to maximum 9 hours with MAVUNO-PLUS Drying facility for 1-tonne of wet seaweed. This has made our work easier and less stressful”-
At MAVUNO-PLUS Co Ltd, we partner and collaborate with governments, private sector, farming communities, sustainability experts in and outside Tanzania to build sustainable food systems in Africa with clean energy solutions.
